Dubai
I am presently claiming residence in Dubai. Funny how before I came over, i would believe the media hype and the glossy exterior presented to us of this city from the outside. Once you’re here that’s a different st ory. You realsie that this city has no soul at all. That money has corrupted it’s very core.
It’s a city under eternal construction which can get pretty annoying at times. But if you’re up for adventure and bent on making it rich in let’s say 14 months, then this is the place for you. However, whilst you are here, please refrain from drinking and driving or oggling at women at both activities will land you in jail with deportation after the end of your sentence. If you’re from the Phillipines, Indian, pakistan or any other poor country, please refrain from coming over as you will be exploited and paid peanuts and suffer much aggravation at the hand of your employer. A favorite pass time of employers over here is
1. Withold your passport
2. threaten you with a lifetime bann
Result? No one dares to complain if they are mistreated. However, you hail from USA, Enlgand, France etc, you will be treated like a king until your behavior causes grave embarrassment to the authorities. then your fate will be similar to those of the lesser mortals in the “city of lost souls”.

I do agree with everything you said iam gonna just add some stuff that cause me irritation from Dubai , this country really 3 years ago was very nice , people was nice , polite and everybody is happy however his salary is low , dubai toke the silly and corrupt face first when they deploy the new law of labour which has shown to every working soul in Dubai that labour here are slaves , ready to be banned or deported in anytime with or without crime.
second thing labour law give a lot of rights to the employer but didn’t even think about the employee with even a micro eye . and all of us has seen that massacre in the internal department in alwasl road , millions of people was standing in the open sun just to solve their problems which ends with a huge brutality from the dubai police to the workers who want to adjust themselves towards the new law , the BBC channel has described the act of the dubai police as a massive use of power.
later on two weeks from that accident all of us heared about those Indians who work on construction companies they gather themselves and sleep in the open street untill the government find them a solution for their accommodation because simply imagine 17 human being trying to sleep in a room with 3×4 square meter.
Dubai government didn’t take decision except after 3 days or 4 from that situation not for the sake of the Indians but because international TV channels begin to raise the alert and the human rights beginning to take an action against Dubai labour ministry.
off course UAE don’t want to the other part of the world to see how much it sucks and solely corrupted because UAE as a country 90% from its revenues are from investment which come here from abroad.
lastly , the new law of the visit visa and residency which has been deployed very recently , the only words to describe it is that it is an inhumanity to man.
imagine someone from Philippines or any far country came to this country to find work if he find work he must get back to his origin country just to change visa status????
is that logic ? or is insane , who is the one who is taking these decisions and on which bases , i think it is only based on drunk or drugs bases.
and now they are tracing expatriates who is kissing or touching in jumerah beach which will guide to prison or ban and deportation , they forgot that dubai on 2007 was ranked the 5th in all over the world in prostitution.
i dont have any thing more to say but what i want to say at the final that dubai is only famous with shiekh ziad road and burj dubai and burj alarab ,that is it one street and two towers, the rest sucks , you want to know what is UAE , take your car and go to RAK or ajman or alain.
That is the real face of UAE.
